Too Much

If I had a dime for every time someone referred to me as “too much,” I’d have a pretty decent chunk of change. Like…what does that even mean?

Often-used words or phrases I’ve become intimately familiar with:

  • Scary
  • Acquired taste
  • Abrasive
  • Aggressive
  • Loud
  • A lot
  • Intimidating

I’d be lying if I didn’t admit these words stung at times, but as I’ve progressed in my career there is also a certain level of pride I associate with them. Being too much has helped me stand out in a room, it’s drawn people to me and it’s given me a personal brand that is all my own.

I won’t make myself smaller to make you more comfortable. Who I am, faults and all have paved my way in life – success, failure, and everything in between.

If you are also struggling, ask yourself “Am I too much, or are they just not enough?”

I’ve come to realize that labelers are often intimidated, threatened, or jealous. If you chose to be “less”, who benefits? It certainly isn’t you.

Standing out in a crowd is something to be proud of, don’t ever apologize for taking up space.

If we want to change things, it’s gonna require a different approach. Integrated + face-to-face + interactive + community + fun. Not doing anything is just not an option for business owners.
If you don’t know where you’re going, you’re never gonna get there. Your personal brand is how you get what you want.

It’s how you show up in the world, both online and offline. It’s the consistent thread that runs through everything you do.

For me, that means being unapologetically direct, embracing irreverent humor, and always prioritizing relationships (handwritten notes, giving versus expecting). It means rescuing dogs (okay, maybe hoarding them), advocating for my community, supporting women and never turning down a good happy hour.

What’s yours? How will you be remarkable? Your Big Deal Energy is waiting to be unleashed. It’s time to stop being invisible and start being unforgettable.
Naughty and nice. I’ll let you determine who is who.
B*itch: badass, strong, stubborn, resilient, and fearless.

We get to decide what it means, so next time you use it to describe any woman; just know we take it as a compliment. You find us intimidating. Good.
You have to give to get.

Stop asking for favors and sliding into people’s DM‘s for an introduction or to pitch your kid for a job. Relationships are not transactional and it is no one else’s responsibility to get you where you’re going.

Invest in your network, show up, send the handwritten note, go to events, grab coffee - it’ll pay off.
