I apologize in advance

F*CK YOu MENOPAUSE.

I apologize in advance.

When you see me next, I’ll probably cry. Maybe you’re wearing a color I like, or you said “hi” in a really nice way; you probably just looked at me.

To all of this I say: F*ck You perimenopause. This, coupled with my ADHD (emotional dysregulation, anyone?), has made me a fucking blast.

ADHD emotional dysregulation is a core feature of ADHD, not just a symptom, involving difficulty managing the intensity, speed, and duration of emotional reactions. It is characterized by extreme emotional sensitivity, mood swings, low frustration tolerance, and impulsive outbursts, with many describing emotions as feeling "maximum volume"

The other day (yesterday) I cried in a staff meeting when I told them about Gina Thorsen‘s keynote at the Small Biz Week kick-off – cue the waterworks.

I am not a “cute” cryer. My voice cracks, I become a soprano and I’m looking at anything but you or people in the general vicinity.

I’ve always felt things deeply, apparently I’m an empath (so I’m told) and the passion in which I approach things is a lot, or should I say “too much,” thanks ADHD.

But THIS? This shit is ridiculous, and before you ask, yes I’m on HRT, adderall and something else.

For those of you who don’t know what that is, maybe get a clue about women’s health – we’re the ones without a penis.

I really miss my Mexico Xanax – a story for another day.

Do you know how frustrating it is to enter a convo and 10 seconds in you’re tearing up, choking back sobs because you’re talking about the Women’s Entrepreneurial Fellowship and how it got you through your embezzlement?

I could always count on my rage, but this? The crying if I see a dog out in the world or because you complimented me…well, this is just bullshit.

Perimenopause often causes increased crying, emotional sensitivity, and sadness due to fluctuating estrogen and progesterone levels that affect neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin. These hormonal shifts can leave you feeling overwhelmed by minor issues, causing unexpected tearfulness.

Oh, and as women, we are already labeled “emotional,” and whatever other shitty label society (men) give us. So, to my fellow ladies, I’m sorry I am single-handedly perpetuating the stereotype. Good times.

And men…boy do you guys annoy us even more these days. You have no idea what this is like, or how often we think about smothering you with a pillow in the middle of the night.

Our ability to stifle our emotions, much less our RBF, is gone, and we literally have no more f*cks to give. It’s why women are saying “adios” in their 40s and 50s; we realize how mediocre you are, and perimenopause took the blinders off.

All this to say, when you see me next – don’t ask me how I’m doing or say something nice, cause before you know it – shit gets weird.

And for the love of God, do not talk to me about WEF (applications now open for the fall cohort) or ask me about my dogs, embezzlement, or day.

Oh, and one more thing – fuck you, menopause.

Founding Cohort

$2,000
90 Days  |  4 Sessions  |  5 Modules  |  6 Mentor Meetings

Session Starts in September

People are the hardest part of what we do as business owners; with it being Small Business Week, it seemed like a good time to remind people that this sh*t is really, really hard. We are dealing with a crappy economy, talent issues and we’re just trying to survive.

You can’t fix everything. It’s why I created Skills Survival School. If your employees understand you, the opportunities for growth within your company and how to be successful; we all have a better shot at survival.

First cohort kicks off in June. Enroll at the link in my bio.
It’s not about who you know, it’s about who knows you.

When I talk Big Deal Energy™️, I remind people about the power of their network and the investment it requires to actually reap the benefits. You gotta give to get.

I shared some thoughts with @fastcompany on the ROI of conference sponsorships, which only makes sense if you build connections and are visible.

“The benefit and ROI need to outweigh the cost. ROI should be defined in multiple ways: brand awareness, visibility with a core customer base, or being able to share knowledge, which positions you as a thought leader. Note: Invest in personal branding workshops or education so your people know how to connect, make an impression, follow up, and nurture a lead.”

If you don’t know how to work a room, give more than you get, then for the love of all that is holy, register for the Big Deal Energy™ Workshop on June 23.
The moment you step into your Big Deal Energy™️, people will find a reason to hate you. They’ll disagree with you. They’ll leave shitty comments. They’ll try to make you feel small.

Let them.

Their mediocre is not yours to carry, their discomfort with your confidence is a them problem. You aren’t showing up to make everyone comfortable, you’re doing it because being authentically you means something.

And when the haters roll in? Smile; they just proved your point. See you on the 21st.
